(2)   Set multimeter select switch to volts dc. (3)   Connect positive (+) multimeter lead to the positive (+) terminal of the alternator. (4)   Connect negative (–) multimeter lead to known good ground. (5)   Start engine and turn on headlights and heater (TM 9-2320-364-10). VOLTAGE TEST Remove all jewelry such as rings, dog tags, bracelets, etc.  If jewelry or tools contact positive electrical circuits, a direct short may result.  Damage to equipment, injury or death to personnel may occur. Alternator is capable of producing over 40 vdc.  Be careful when taking a voltage reading not to get shocked. NOTE DUVAC controller resets to the 24 vdc charge mode approximately every 55 seconds.  Take the voltage reading for at least a minute to make sure voltage reading is taken during the 24 vdc charge mode. Tag and mark all wires prior to removal.
