TM 9-2320-364-34-2 3-100      3-12.  CRANKCASE FRONT COVER AND OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT (CONT). b. Installation. Ensure there are no personnel working under truck while performing this task.  Engine will be supported by lifting device.  If lifting device fails, engine may fall and cause severe injury or death to personnel. NOTE Do not remove lubricant or plastic coating from outer surface of oil seal. (1) Position front cover (23) on wooden blocks and coat sealing lip of oil seal (27) with grease. (2) Position oil seal (27) in crankcase front cover (23) with sealing lip of front seal against inner face of crankcase front cover. (3) Using front seal installer, install front oil seal (27) in crankcase cover (23). (4) Coat gasket (26) with grease. (5) Position gasket (26) on engine (2). (6) Position crankcase front cover (23) on engine (2). (7) Install two lockwashers (25) and screws (24) in crankcase front cover (23).  Tighten screws to 80 to 90 lb-ft (108 to 122 N.m).
