TM 9-2320-364-34-2 6-38      6-4.  STARTER REPAIR (CONT). (37) Position field ring (15) in vise. (38) Remove eight screws (79) and four pole pieces (80) from field ring (15).  Discard screws. (39) Remove field coil stud (9), washer (81) and bushing (82) from field oil jumper (83). (40) Remove field coil (84) and spacer insulator (85) from field ring (15). b. Cleaning/Inspection. Drycleaning Solvent (P-D-680) is TOXIC and flammable.  Wear protective goggles, face shield, and gloves; use only in a well-ventilated area; avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothes, and do not breathe vapors.  Keep away from heat or flame.  Never smoke when using solvent. The flashpoint for Type II Drycleaning Solvent is 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) and Type III Drycleaning Solvent is 200 degrees F (93 degrees C).  Failure to do so may result in injury or death to personnel. If personnel become dizzy while using cleaning solvent, immediately get fresh air and medical help.  If solvent contacts skin or clothes, flush with cold water.  If solvent contacts eyes, immediately flush eyes with water and get immediate medical attention. Do not dip solenoid, armature, field coil, or drive assembly in drycleaning solvent, or damage to components may result. (1) Clean solenoid, armature, field coil and drive assembly with cleaning cloth dipped in drycleaning solvent. (2) Clean brush holder assembly, insulation washers, bushings, and spacers by dipping in drycleaning solvent.
