2-31. MATERIAL HANDLING CRANE (MHC) OPERATION
(REMOTE CONTROLS) (CONT).
d.
Rotate and Telescope Boom.
Operator should be stationed to be able to see load at all times
during crane operation. Operate crane from RH or LH remote
control station if load is not visible from main crane control
panel. Boom and load moving out of control could cause
serious injury or death.
Ensure that area is clear of personnel before moving SWING
control lever. Boom should be swung slow enough so crane
operator has complete control. If operator cannot see load
during operation, operate crane from REMOTE CONTROL
UNIT. Boom moving out of control could cause serious injury
or death.
Operator must keep control of load at all times. If necessary,
attach cargo tiedowns to load for use as a control tether. Load
moving out of control could cause serious injury or death.
Keep boom clear of all electrical lines and other obstacles while
operating crane. Serious injury or death could result upon
contact.
Boom must be above truck hook arm, flatrack and truck load
for clearance. Hitting obstacles with boom may cause
damage to boom or truck.
NOTE
Operate control levers with light, even pressure. Moving
lever slightly will cause slow movement of crane.
Moving lever to full travel will cause faster movement of
crane.
