Inspection. NOTE Tie-rod and drag link end wear is determined by the amount of axial movement in the end. The arrow in the illustration shows the direction of axial movement in the end. Side to side, twisting or lateral movement is NOT an indication of end wear. (1) Ensure wheels are straight ahead with no tension or binding on steering linkage and components. Use hand force only in performing this inspection.  Using mechanical and other leverage such as pry bars may damage the equipment. (2) Using hand force only, check for wear of tie-rod ends or drag link ends (1) by pulling and pushing in a straight in and out motion only. 1
