Bend up two locking tabs (31) on locking
ring (32).

Remove and discard retainer (33), locking
ring (32) and spacer (34) as an assembly
from pitman arm (12).
Pitman arm is under pressure.
Parts can act as projectiles when
released and could cause severe
eye injury to personnel.
NOTE
Note location of two timing
marks in pitman arm and on
shaft.

Using puller and steel disc, remove pitman
arm (12) from front steering gear (7).

Remove puller and steel disc from pitman
arm (12).
(23)
Remove eight screws (35), lockwashers (36)
and bracket (23) from front steering
gear (7). Discard screws and lockwashers.

Attach lifting device to front steering
gear (7) and remove from chain vise.

Remove lifting device from front steering
gear (7).

Installation.
Steering gear weighs 190 lbs (86
kg). Attach lifting device prior to
installation to prevent possible
injury to personnel.
NOTE
Install cable ties as required.

Attach lifting device to front steering
gear (7) and position in chain vise.
