24-9. TRANSFER CASE DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY REPAIR (CONT).

Assembly.
(1)
Install differential ring (12) on planetary
carrier (5). Rotate differential ring on
planet carrier to lock four pins (13) and
align bolt holes.
Adhesives, solvents, and sealing
compounds can burn easily, can
give off harmful vapors, and are
harmful to skin and clothing. To
avoid injury or death, keep away
from open fire and use in a well-
ventilated area. If adhesive,
solvent, or sealing compound
gets on skin or clothing, wash
immediately with soap and
water.
(2)
Coat threads of eight screws (10) with
sealing compound.
(3)
Install cover (11) on planetary carrier (5)
with eight screws (10). Tighten screws to 25
lb-ft (34 N.m).
(4)
Install four safety wires (9), twist wires (9) as
shown through adjacent pairs of eight
screws (10).
Planetary carrier assembly
weighs 85 lbs (39 kg). Use the
aid of an assistant to turn carrier
over to prevent injury to
personnel.
(5)
With aid of assistant, turn planetary
carrier (5) over.
(6)
Using press, install spacer (14) in planetary
carrier (5).
