TM 9-2320-364-34-3 14-30      14-6.  AXLE NO. 3 AIR SUSPENSION BEAM ASSEMBLY REPAIR (CONT). d. Assembly. (1) Coat beam end bushing (2), beam center bushing (3) and two bores in trailing beam (1) with grease. Trailing beam weighs 150 lbs (68 kg).  Attach a suitable lifting device prior to installation to prevent possible injury to personnel. (2) Position press plate on press. (3) Using a lifting device, position trailing beam (1) on press plate. NOTE When beam center bushing is centered in trailing beam, each side of beam center bushing should extend 0.38 in. (9.65 mm) from trailing beam. (4) Using beam center bushing installer and press adapter, press beam center bushing (3) into trailing beam (1) until beam center bushing is centered in trailing beam (1). NOTE Clamp compresses rubber between the inner and outer sleeve of beam end bushing to allow clamp plate to seat properly. (5) Attach clamp onto beam end bushing (2). Tighten nuts of clamp. NOTE When beam end bushing is centered in trailing beam, each side of beam end bushing should extend 0.44 in. (11.18 mm) from trailing beam. (6) Using clamp plate and press adapter, press beam end bushing (2) into trailing beam (1) so beam end bushing is centered in trailing beam. (7) Remove clamp, clamp plate, and press adapter from trailing beam (1).
