If tooth contact pattern is like pattern C,
remove backlash. Go to Step (31).

If tooth contact pattern is like pattern D,
move pinion shaft away from bevel gear by
adjusting shims. Go to Step (6) if installing
new gears.

move pinion shaft closer toward bevel gear
