Installation.
Use care when installing spring. Spring is under tension and can act as a projectile if
released and could cause severe eye injury.
NOTE
Perform Steps (1) through (3) if truck is not equipped with remote engine oil filter
manifold.
Perform Steps (4) through (8) if truck is equipped with remote engine oil filter manifold.

Install bypass valve disk (11), spring (10), retainer (9) and screw (8) in housing adapter (2).
Adhesives, solvents, and sealing compounds can burn easily, can give off harmful vapors,
and are harmful to skin and clothing. To avoid injury or death, keep away from open fire
and use in a well-ventilated area. If adhesive, solvent, or sealing compound gets on skin or
clothing, wash immediately with soap and water

Apply sealing compound to threads of four
screws (3).

Install gasket (6) and adapter housing (2) on
oil cooler adapter cover (7) with four
screws (3). Tighten screws 30 to 35 lb-ft
(41 to 47 N.m).
