Figure 3.
Outriggers and Main Rails.
5.
Front Roller Outrigger Tubes to Both Main Rails (Figure 3, Item 2). These welds join front roller outrigger tubes
to both front and rear main rail segments. Sound welds in these joints are necessary to ensure safe support
of bridge bays during handling and transport. A crack should be repaired before it reaches 1.5 inches (38.1
mm) in length. Combined length of multiple cracks at any one of four tube joints (two for each outrigger) to
main rails should not exceed 2.0 inches (50.8 mm).
6.
Front Main Rails to Rear Main Rails (Figure 3, Item 3). These welds join front end of rear main rails and front
main rails via gusset plates. Sound welds in these joints are necessary to ensure safe support of loaded BAP
during handling and transport. A crack should be repaired before it reaches 1.0 inch (25.4 mm) in length.
Combined length of multiple cracks at any rail joint should not exceed 2.0 inches (50.8 mm).
7.
Rear Holding Locks (DIN Locks) (Figure 3, Item 4). These locks secure BAP to vehicle, preventing it from
moving forward or up. These welds join locks to main rails. Sound welds in these joints are necessary to ensure
safe transport of loaded BAP on vehicle or on a PLS trailer. A crack should be repaired before it reaches 1.0
inch (25.4 mm) in length. Combined length of multiple cracks at either lock joint should not exceed 2.0 inches
(50.8 mm).
8.
Center Roller Crossmember to Main Rails (Figure 3, Item 5). These welds join center roller crossmember tube
to main rails. Sound welds in these joints are necessary to ensure support of loaded BAP during handling and
transport. A crack should be repaired before it reaches 1.0 inch (25.4 mm) in length. Combined length of
multiple cracks at either rail joint should not exceed 1.5 inches (38.1 mm).
